This rectangular wall-mount sink is carved by hand in Turkey from solid silver travertine, a gray stone with cool undertones, organic veining and subtle shifts of colour. It measures 48 inches long, 20 inches wide and 8 inches high, and an 8 inch backsplash is carved as part of the same piece. Each sink is sculpted individually, so the grain, colour and texture of the one that arrives are its own. The surface is honed, which keeps the stone matte and tactile, and the rustic character of the travertine is left on show rather than smoothed away.

Honed gray stone, rustic edges

Honing gives the travertine a smooth, matte surface that reads soft rather than shiny, and it lets the gray tones and veining show at their natural depth. The basin is a long, generous rectangle, and the edges are curved throughout, which makes the sink comfortable to lean over and easier to clean than one with sharp corners. Silver travertine has a cool undertone that sits between gray and taupe, so it takes on the colour of the light around it: cooler under daylight, warmer under incandescent bulbs. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal, and the texture of the stone differs a little from sink to sink.

A long basin for a primary bath

At 48 inches long and 20 inches wide, the basin gives plenty of room for hand washing, rinsing and filling a water pitcher, with working surface to spare. The integrated backsplash closes the gap between sink and wall, so daily splashes land on stone rather than on paint or grout, and no separate tile or marble work is needed behind the basin. Hung on the wall, the sink leaves the floor open below for shelving or baskets, which helps a bathroom feel larger and suits accessibility-focused layouts. Reinforce the wall for a long sink

A 48 inch sink of solid travertine is heavy, so the wall behind it needs blocking between the studs along the full length of the mounting area. That is easiest to add while the wall is open, along with the drain and supply lines. Plan the faucet at the same time: a wall-mounted faucet set above the backsplash is the usual choice, and its rough-in height must clear the backsplash. A professional installer is recommended, both for the weight and so the sink sits level along its length.

Care

Travertine is a porous calcite stone, so vinegar, citrus and harsh chemicals can etch the honed surface. Sealing slows the absorption of water and stains, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
