Product Description
Toros Black marble, a round semi-polished bowl
This round vessel sink is hand-carved from Toros Black marble quarried in Turkey. It measures 16 inches in diameter and stands 6 inches tall, sitting on top of the counter as a solid bowl of dark stone rather than disappearing into the vanity. The marble is black with subtle charcoal variations and organic striations, formed in the stone over millions of years. Because the pattern comes from the block, no two sinks share identical veining or colouring, and each one is its own piece. Each bowl is carved using traditional techniques, with walls of solid marble 2 to 3 cm thick.
A semi-polished black finish
The surface is semi-polished. It has a soft sheen rather than a full mirror gloss, which keeps the black stone rich in colour while making water marks less visible than they would be on a fully polished dark surface. The finish shows the charcoal striations clearly without strong reflections on the bowl. The edges are curved and the interior basin is smooth, with no tight corners where debris can collect, so the bowl stays simple to keep clean. The shape is a classic round vessel with a traditional character, which suits the deep colour of the marble. Moderate variation between sinks is normal: some show more gray striation, others are a more even black.
- Semi-polished A soft sheen that keeps the black deep and shows fewer water marks than a high gloss.
- Curved and smooth Rounded edges and a smooth basin with no corners to trap debris.
Black stone on the counter
As an above-countertop sink, the bowl sits on the vanity where it can be seen from across the room. A black marble bowl reads strongly against a white or light stone counter, against pale wood, or against light wall tile, and it becomes the anchor of the vanity. On a darker counter it gives a quieter, tone-on-tone look. The 16 inch diameter gives a generous basin for washing while keeping its proportions balanced on a single vanity. The standard 4 cm drain hole takes conventional drain fittings without special adapters, so it works with most plumbing setups.
- Size 16" diameter × 6" H, solid Toros Black marble.
- Drain Standard 4 cm drain hole.
A flat counter and a tall faucet
Solid marble is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the bowl. A drain hole is cut through the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone around its base. The rim stands 6 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut so the faucet and drain positions are planned together.
Why we chose it
- Carved from one block Each bowl is a single piece of solid marble, hand-carved, with no seams.
- Built for decades Marble has a long track record in fountains and sculpture, and a sealed marble sink lasts for many years of bathroom use.
- Made to order Each sink is made to order, with custom sizes and finishes on request.
Made to order
This sink is made to order on two production schedules. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. If a 16 inch bowl does not fit the vanity, the sink can also be made in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Care
Toros Black is a calcite marble, so it is a porous stone: acidic liquids can etch the semi-polished surface, and soap residue or limescale can build up if left. Sealing keeps liquids from penetrating the stone, and how often it is resealed depends on use, typically about once a year.
