Toros Black or Statuario White Marble Coffee Table 30x48 Polished

Polished marble coffee table, black metal legs

This rectangular coffee table is made in Turkey with a polished marble top on black painted metal legs. The top measures 30 by 48 inches and the table stands 16 inches high. Two stones are offered: Toros Black marble for a dark, dramatic top, or Statuario White marble for a bright one. Either way, the table is built to anchor a modern living room while handling the everyday demands of a family home. It sits between showroom piece and working furniture, and is meant to be used every day.

A polished slab on a black frame

Each top is cut from first-grade marble and finished by hand, so no two tables look alike. The veining is what catches the eye: soft, natural lines across the surface that differ from slab to slab, and the polished finish brings out the depth and light of the stone. The top is a substantial 3/4 inch thick slab, not a thin veneer, which gives the table its presence and keeps the edges sturdy. It rests on a frame of black painted metal legs. The frame is minimal, built to carry the weight of the stone over the long term, and the black lines frame the top whether the marble is dark or white. With Toros Black, the table reads as one dark, unified piece. With Statuario White, the black legs draw a clear outline under a bright top, a classic contrast that suits both mid-century and contemporary industrial rooms. Because the base is open, the floor and rug stay visible beneath the table, which keeps a large top from feeling bulky in the room.

• Two marble choices Toros Black or Statuario White, each polished, with natural veining.
• Black metal frame Painted metal legs that support the 3/4 inch thick marble top.

A generous top for living

The 30 by 48 inch surface gives ample room for books, a tray, decor and the cups and plates of daily life. It suits a full-size sofa or a sectional and sits in the center of the seating area as the room's main piece. At 16 inches high the top is easy to reach from the sofa. The design is simple enough that it will not look dated as other furniture changes around it. This is a table for people who see marble the way some see good leather: a natural material that shows its life over time. Owners who want a surface that never shows a mark may find marble frustrating, but those who enjoy natural materials tend to value the patina it develops. Coasters and prompt attention to spills are part of living with a marble top, and in return the table gives the room a natural centerpiece that no printed surface can imitate.

Placing a heavy marble top

A marble top of this size is heavy, so two or more people are needed to unpack and place the table. Before delivery, measure doorways and turns along the route to the living room. Set the table on a level floor so the metal legs bear evenly and the top does not rock. Felt or soft pads under the legs protect wood and tile from scratches. Lift the table into position rather than sliding it across the floor.

Each of these tables is made to order. If 30 by 48 inches does not suit the room, or another stone or leg finish is needed, the table can be made in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the seating area and the stone of interest.

Care

Both Toros Black and Statuario White are calcite marbles with a polished surface. Like all marble they are porous, so wine, coffee or lemon juice can etch the polish and pigments can stain it if left to sit. The polish and a good seal give some time to react to a spill, and how often the top is resealed depends on use. Marble that is cared for can stay in a home for generations, developing a lived-in patina as it ages.
