A 67 inch Calacatta Viola double sink

This double sink is carved from solid Calacatta Viola marble quarried in Turkey and finished by hand. It measures 67 inches long, 22 inches wide and 8 inches high, enough length for two people to use it at the same time. Because it is one integrated piece, there are no gaps or breaks between two separate units.

One long piece of polished marble

The stone runs uninterrupted from end to end. Its gray and black tones carry natural veining, and every piece has its own pattern rather than one repeated across thousands of units. The surface is polished, which resists mineral deposits and daily wear and gives the marble a clear, reflective depth. Edges are curved and the construction is smooth, so dirt has no tight corners to settle in. The stone is 2 to 3 cm thick. Moderate colour variation is normal for this marble.

Built for a shared bathroom

The 67 inch length gives each person real space, without the compromise of two single sinks squeezed side by side. The sink is installed over the countertop, so it suits a long vanity or a custom stone or wood top. Faucets, drains and mounting are chosen separately. Each drain hole is 4 cm for standard drain fittings, and a drain cap is included.

A long, strong countertop

A 67 inch piece of solid marble is very heavy, so the countertop and vanity below must be flat, level and built to carry it along its full length. Drain holes are cut in the counter to line up with the sink's drains, and the sink is set in silicone. Plan faucet positions and supply lines for both sides before the counter is cut; deck-mounted faucets need to reach over the 8 inch rim, or wall-mounted faucets can be used. A professional installer is recommended for the weight.

Care

Calacatta Viola is a porous calcite marble, so acids can etch the polished surface and sealing helps it resist water and stains. How often it is resealed depends on use, typically once a year.
