This rectangular sink is carved by hand from genuine Carrara White marble quarried in Turkey. The stone has a white base with delicate gray veining, and every sink is cut from its own piece of stone, so no two are the same. It measures 24 inches long, 16 inches wide and 12 inches high. That height gives the basin real capacity for daily tasks while the footprint stays compact enough for a smaller bathroom. The sink can hang on the wall or sit on top of a vanity, and it is polished inside and out. As the years pass, the marble develops a subtle patina rather than looking worn.

Polished stone, curved edges

The polished finish covers both the interior and the exterior, so the sink catches light from every side and reads as a focal point above the vanity. Polishing gives marble its classic glossy, reflective look and closes the surface of the stone more tightly than a matte finish. The edges are curved and the construction is smooth, which leaves no hard corners where soap, toothpaste or cosmetics can build up, a small detail that makes daily cleaning easier. White marble is valued for the way it brightens a bathroom, and the gray veining adds depth and movement to the surface. Because each piece is carved individually from natural marble, the color and the veining pattern vary from sink to sink. Moderate variation is normal for this stone. Mounted on the wall, the sink floats above the floor. That saves floor space, gives a small room a more open look and leaves no cabinet base to collect dust, which also makes cleaning simpler. Wall-mount sinks work especially well in powder rooms and guest baths, and the open space underneath can help in a layout planned for accessibility. Set on top of a vanity instead, the same sink becomes an above-vanity basin, with the faucet on the counter or on the wall behind it. Carrara marble suits a primary bath, a powder room or a hall bath, and its white and gray palette sits comfortably with chrome, brass or black fixtures. At 16 by 24 inches the basin is large enough to wash without splashing yet small enough for a tight wall. A standard 1.5 inch drain hole takes typical drain fittings.

Reinforce the wall first

Solid marble is heavy, and a 12 inch high sink carries a lot of stone. A wall-mounted installation needs blocking between the studs at the mounting height, so the brackets are fixed into solid wood rather than drywall alone. Blocking is easiest to add while the wall is open, before tile goes up. For an above-vanity installation, the top must be flat, level and strong enough for the weight, and the sink is set in silicone over a drain hole cut to line up with its own. Plan the faucet early: a wall-mounted faucet needs its supply lines run inside the wall, while a deck faucet needs a hole in the counter beside the sink. Professional installation is recommended, both to reinforce the wall correctly and so the drain and supply lines line up cleanly.

Care

Carrara White is a calcite marble with a polished surface. It is a porous stone, so acidic liquids can etch it and dark liquids can stain the white base if left to sit. Sealing slows absorption, and how often the sink is resealed depends on how much the bathroom is used.
