Lake Pepin is a 25,000-acre natural lake formed by a widening of the Mississippi River in Goodhue County, Minnesota and Pierce County, Wisconsin, reaching a maximum depth of 60 feet. The lake supports excellent fishing for Walleye, Sauger, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Catfish, and Freshwater Drum. Historically famous as the birthplace of water skiing — first performed here in 1922 by Ralph Samuelson — Lake Pepin is one of the Mississippi River's most celebrated features.
Lake Pepin stretches along the Minnesota-Wisconsin border near the historic river towns of Red Wing and Lake City, Minnesota. Red Wing is celebrated for its pottery, the Sheldon Theatre, and dramatic limestone bluffs, while Lake City hosts the annual Aquatennial festival. The Great River Road National Scenic Byway runs along both shores, offering some of the most dramatic bluff-country scenery in the Midwest.

The difference between standard and HD maps is the number of layers. Standard maps have 1 land layer and 7 water layers. "The HD lake maps have 1 land layer and 14 water layers. So twice the detail. The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, "XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail.
