Black marble, split by hand

This vessel sink is carved from a single block of Toros Black marble quarried in Turkey. The stone is a deep charcoal black with silvery white veining, and the piece is shaped by hand into an irregular, sculptural form, so no two sinks are identical. It measures 17 inches wide, 17 inches long and 5 inches high, a size that fits a powder room or a primary bath vanity without crowding it. Turkish marble is known for its rich colour and bold veining, and this sink shows both.

Polished bowl, split face

The sink combines two finishes. The basin is polished, smooth and glossy, which deepens the black and makes cleaning simple. The outside is a hand split face: raw, textured stone that catches light and shadow and gives the piece depth. The outline is irregular rather than an exact circle or square, and the edges are curved. Which pattern a sink carries depends on its block: some show bold white streaks, others soft gray undertones or a more dramatic contrast, with moderate variation overall. Natural veining, colour shifts and small irregularities are part of real stone and of work done by hand.

A focal point on the vanity

At 17 by 17 inches, the sink sits on a standard bathroom vanity without overwhelming it, and the irregular form makes it the first thing noticed in the room. Black stone works against white or pale counters, warm wood, or dark tile for a moody powder room. It sits on top of the counter, which shows the split face on every side. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain fittings, and the walls are 2 to 3 cm of solid marble.

Set it on a flat counter

This sink is installed over the countertop. Solid marble is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the sink is set in silicone. The rim stands 5 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Choose the faucet before the counter is cut. Professional installation is recommended.

This sink is made to order on two schedules. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice; both are the same 17 inch sink. Care

Toros Black is a porous calcite marble. The sink arrives sealed, but acids such as vinegar or lemon can still etch the polished basin, and resealing keeps up its resistance to stains and water absorption. How often it is resealed depends on use.
