Walnut Travertine Vein Cut Cube End Table 10x10x24 Polished

Walnut Travertine cube, cut along the vein

This end table is a tall cube of Walnut Travertine quarried in Turkey, cut along the vein and polished. Vein cutting slices the stone parallel to its layers, so the surface shows long, linear bands rather than a cloudy pattern. Warm brown and beige tones run up the sides and across the top, and color variation between pieces is moderate, so every table carries its own banding. The cube measures 10 inches wide, 10 inches long and 24 inches high. That narrow footprint and upright form make it a nightstand, an accent table beside a chair or a small display surface in a hallway, without taking much floor.

Linear veins on a tall cube

The design is deliberately plain. Four flat faces and a square top leave the stone to carry the piece, and the vein cut makes that work: the bands run in one direction around the cube and change slightly in width and tone from face to face. Polishing deepens the browns and gives the surface a smooth sheen that catches light from a lamp or a window. Each cube is shaped and finished by hand in Turkey, one at a time, rather than assembled from parts in a factory. Lighter and darker tones, varied veining and occasional surface texture are features of the stone, not flaws, so no two tables are alike.

• Vein-cut travertine Cut parallel to the layers for straight, flowing bands of brown and beige.
• Polished faces A smooth sheen on the top and sides that deepens the warm tones.

A narrow table with height

At 24 inches high, the cube stands taller than many end tables, which suits it to the side of an upholstered sofa or a bed with a deep mattress, where a lamp or a glass needs to sit within reach. The 10 inch square top holds a reading lamp, a small plant or a stack of two or three books. Its footprint is small enough for the narrow strip between a bed and a wall, the corner of an entryway or the gap between two armchairs. Because the form is so simple, the table sits comfortably in minimalist, modern, traditional and transitional rooms; the stone sets the tone rather than any applied detail.

• Size 10" W × 10" L × 24" H, solid travertine cube.
• Color Warm brown and beige bands with moderate variation between pieces.

Setting the cube in place

Even a small travertine cube is heavy, so it is best carried and set by two people. The table needs a level floor; on an uneven surface a square base will rock rather than settle. Felt pads under the base protect wood and tile floors from scratches when the table is moved.

Why we chose it

• Solid travertine One natural stone from top to base, with no veneer or applied surface.
• Vein-cut pattern Straight, linear bands that make a simple cube read as a considered piece.
• Made to order Each cube is made to order, with custom sizes and finishes available.

Made to order

This cube is made to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, and the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice for the same size. A taller or wider cube, or a different finish, can also be made to order. To start a custom piece, contact us with the size and the room it is for.

Care

Walnut Travertine is a porous calcite stone with a polished surface. Acidic liquids such as vinegar or citrus can etch the polish, and spills left to sit can mark it. Periodic sealing helps the stone resist stains, and how often it is resealed depends on use. Over time the surface gains a gentle patina, and the color and texture of the travertine keep their character with age.
