Ward Lake in Polk County, Wisconsin
This lake has 8 Layers or 15 Layers for HD Version
Ward Lake is a 91-acre seepage lake in northern Polk County, Wisconsin, reaching a maximum depth of 43 feet with steep sloping shorelines, a small littoral zone, and a bottom of predominantly sand, gravel, and muck that creates ideal cold-water habitat. The lake is primarily managed for Walleye, stocked with large fingerlings on a regular schedule to maintain a target density of 2 to 3 fish per acre, alongside Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike. Its steep shoreline gradient and deeper, cool basin give Ward Lake a surprisingly quality cold-water fishery for a lake of its size in the rolling northwestern Wisconsin lake country.
Located in northern Polk County near the communities of Luck, Frederic, and Lewis, Ward Lake sits in a quiet, wooded corner of northwest Wisconsin well off the beaten path from the busier resort lakes of the region. The surrounding Polk County landscape of pine and hardwood forests, small rivers, and hundreds of tucked-away lakes offers exceptional fishing, hiking, and cabin life for those who seek a more secluded Wisconsin Northwoods experience.
A laser-cut wooden map of Ward Lake makes a personal and distinctive piece of wall art for any Polk County cabin, Frederic-area lake home, or northwest Wisconsin retreat. The natural wood top layer traces the intimate shoreline of this quiet seepage lake in fine detail, while the light-to-dark blue gradient layers capture its impressive 43-foot depth and the steep, cold-water character that sets it apart. A handcrafted gift perfectly suited for Ward Lake homeowners, Polk County anglers, and anyone who treasures this quiet corner of Wisconsin lake country.

The difference between standard and HD maps is the number of layers. Standard maps have 1 land layer and 7 water layers. The HD lake maps have 1 land layer and 14 water layers. So twice the detail. The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail.
