Description
Story
Whitewash Waves is a work of applied relief — thick deposits of white pigment arranged in irregular horizontal registers across a wood-framed canvas, punctuated by tonal passages of muted blue. The surface is tactile before it is pictorial: paint not as a film but as accumulated material, each row distinct in thickness and edge, none of them resolved into uniformity.
The rhythm reads differently under different light conditions. In raking light the relief casts its own shadows and the composition gains new depth; in even light, it settles into tonal restraint. The work is content to be read slowly, at whatever distance the room allows.
