Description
Penny Round 8 is a marble mosaic that sets circular pieces of Bianco Dolomiti, Bardiglio Light and Thala on a honed sheet just over nine inches square. Colour is recorded as multicolour with moderate variation, so no two areas of a floor look quite alike, and the scatter carries no repeating order.
Three stones, scattered
Mixing three marbles rather than tinting one produces contrast that survives close inspection, because the difference is in the material and not in a coating. Among multicolor marble mosaics this one leans on material rather than on treatment. Honing keeps every piece matte, which evens out how the three stones read against one another. Sheets are 3/8 inch thick and cover 0.43 square feet each.
