Description
Calacatta T Viola is a polished white marble tile at 12x24, from the Canvas Stone collection. Each piece covers two square feet, five make a box, and variation between pieces is moderate, which is the point of a stone chosen for its veining.
Veining as the subject
A viola marble is bought for the colour in its veins, and moderate variation means those veins genuinely differ from piece to piece. Polishing is what brings them up, deepening both the white ground and the lines running through it. At 12x24 there is enough surface on each tile for a vein to develop rather than being cut short. Bodies are 3/8 inch, thin for the size, so the bed underneath needs to be flat.

Care
