Lauderdale Lakes in Walworth County, Wisconsin

This lake has 8 Layers or 15 Layers for HD Version

Lauderdale Lakes is an 807-acre chain of three interconnected glacial lakes—Green Lake, Middle Lake, and Mill Lake—located in scenic Walworth County in southeastern Wisconsin. Carved during the Last Glacial Period, these pristine lakes feature 16 miles of meandering shoreline dotted with numerous small islands, quiet bays, and crystal-clear waters that reach maximum depths of 60 feet in Green Lake, with Middle and Mill Lakes reaching approximately 50 feet each. Green Lake is the only spring-fed lake in the chain, while Middle and Mill Lakes are characterized as drainage lakes fed primarily by groundwater, precipitation, and runoff. The lakes are named after James Lauderdale, a New York native who moved to the area in 1841 and built the first residential building along the shore in 1842. All water in the system flows through Mill Lake to an outflow on the eastern shore that feeds into Honey Creek. The lakes sit within the town of La Grange, approximately 10 miles from the city of Elkhorn, and maintain excellent water quality classified as mesotrophic, making them one of southeastern Wisconsin's premier lakefront communities.

Lauderdale Lakes offers exceptional year-round recreational opportunities for fishing enthusiasts, boaters, and outdoor adventurers. The lakes boast healthy populations of largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, and smallmouth bass, with spring and fall being particularly productive fishing seasons. Public boat launches are conveniently located on the western shores of Green and Middle Lakes and the eastern shore of Mill Lake, allowing boaters and paddlers to explore the entire 16-mile shoreline system. The area provides easy access to numerous attractions, including the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit just northwest of the lakes, which covers over 20,000 acres of glacial hills, wooded forests, and features more than 160 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing, including sections of the renowned Ice Age Trail. The historic Peterson Island Woods Preserve, a 40-acre natural area situated on a peninsula between Green and Middle Lakes, offers peaceful trails for nature walks and wildlife observation. Located just 15 minutes north of the renowned Lake Geneva resort area with its 5,262 acres of water activities, festivals, concerts, and cruise boats, Lauderdale Lakes provides the perfect blend of tranquil lakeside living and convenient access to southeastern Wisconsin's most popular destinations. Winter activities include ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and cross-country skiing, while summer brings opportunities for water skiing, swimming, sailing, and golf at the local Mill Lake Country Club with its scenic nine-hole course overlooking the lake.

The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, " XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail."
