San Monica hand painted cuerda seca tile — one of the signature designs from our San Luis Obispo (SLO) collection, featuring a classic Malibu style pattern with bold geometric symmetry and rich color contrast. The cuerda seca technique creates raised ridges between each color, giving the tile a distinctive three-dimensional texture you can see and feel.
Each tile is individually hand crafted using the traditional cuerda seca method, where molten wax is applied to separate glaze colors before firing. This centuries-old process produces the characteristic raised lines and interplay of matte and glossy finishes that define authentic Malibu style tilework. Perfect for kitchen backsplashes, bathroom accent walls, fireplace surrounds, stair risers, and fountain features.
Available in 2", 4.25", and 6" sizes. Every tile is handmade and unique. All handmade Mexican products are rustic in nature and subject to variation in shape, size, and color.
