Description
This is a marble mosaic that arrives already set out as a subway pattern: 2 3/4 by 5 1/2 bars mounted on an 8 7/16 by 16 11/16 sheet, polished, in Silver Sky. Each sheet covers 0.89 square feet and six make a box.
The layout comes done
Setting individual subway pieces takes time and a good eye for level. Mounting them on mesh transfers that work to the factory, so what arrives is a pre arranged panel that goes up as one. As multicolor marble mosaics go this one moves a good deal, recorded as multicolour with moderate variation, so tone moves across the stone. Sheets are 3/8 inch thick and polished, which deepens whatever veining runs through each bar. Because the bars are already spaced, the grout joint within a sheet is fixed, and the only joint worth thinking about is the one where two sheets meet.

Wide approval
Approval is wide. Interiors of every kind appear, homes and commercial premises, vertical surfaces and horizontal ones, plus wet rooms and splash zones. The rooms named are living room, kitchen and bathroom. Each box brings 5.33 square feet, and thirteen of them will finish a 60 square foot area with a margin for cutting. Staggering the sheets so their edges do not line up keeps those meeting points from reading as a grid over the pattern. A sample is offered, which is worth using when the colour moves as much as this one does.

Care
Seal after installation, then every one to two years. Polished stone shows etch marks readily, so acidic cleaners are out and a pH neutral stone product is the right choice.
