Description
A zellige tile at 4 by 4 inches and half an inch thick, cut and glazed by hand in Morocco in a glossy white. Fifty pieces fill a box and cover 5.56 square feet. A sample can be ordered from the product page.
No two pieces alike
Chips, pits, uneven edges and a colour that shifts within a single box are not faults in zellige, they are what the process leaves behind. A hand applied glaze pools thicker in some places than others, so white comes out closer to cream in one piece and almost blue in the next where the glaze runs deep. Gloss makes those differences easier to see, since each piece catches the light at a slightly different angle. Fifty pieces to a box means a small run can come from one box, with a few left over to replace a breakage later from the same firing.

Rated for light traffic
Residential light floors is the recorded approval, with kitchen as the room on file. White kitchen floor tiles in zellige need a tight joint of about 1/16 of an inch, or the pieces left nearly butted as tradition has it, with a dark or matching grout. Thickness varies from piece to piece, so back butter each one and check the face for level as you go. Thirteen boxes reach 60 square feet with waste included.

Care
The glossy glaze wipes clean with any household tile cleaner. Exposed clay at the cut edges can be sealed if you would rather it did not take up marks. Matching unsanded grout in brilliant white is listed with the product.
